Skype (Platform) Is Dead

No, not a natural death. Skype was killed. Silenced by force. Microsoft murdered it, buried it, and moved on to something else. Microsoft Teams. Surely you’ve heard by now. It happened on May 5, 2025. Rest in peace, Skype. We already miss you. The inspiration and driving force behind the Skype Video Project.

Skype

Skype is officially gone. Technically, Microsoft refers to it as "retired," but the reality is that Skype is no longer alive. We, the users, are forced to transition to Microsoft Teams. Which, currently, sucks as a mess. I had actually been using Skype for decades — for training, sessions, interviews, and more.

Project

Even though Skype platform itself is gone, the concept behind the Skype Video Project remains very much alive. The core purpose of the “Skype Video Model” was always about working virtually with video demonstration models online, and that’s still relevant today. We’ll still be using, upgrading and updating this approach, with new tools, topics, ideas, models and different platforms.
